Who We Are
The Friends of Millbrae Library is a nonprofit, member-supported organization dedicated to providing crucial support, programming, and funding for the Millbrae Library. We help to provide new library services and technologies, educational and cultural programming and events, and physical improvements to the library.
History
The Friends were founded in 1976 to help support the library. We were instrumental in advocating and getting funding for the new library starting in 2000. Our efforts were rewarded in the opening of our current library in 2004.
What We Do
Each year, we fund the Annual Open House, the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the Tricycle Music Fest. We support much of the Summer Learning Program, and provide extra program support for children, teen, and adult programming. Our dedicated volunteers run a weekly chess club and adult book discussion group.
The Friends are the sole financial support for the Homework Center, providing a safe, quiet environment and knowledgeable staff for our community’s youth to learn, study, and gain confidence in their ability to succeed in school.
We currently have over 200 Friends members who help to make Millbrae Library the vibrant community gem that it is.
To support the Millbrae Library in providing the best evolving resource for our community.
Our Vision
The Friends of the Millbrae Library encourage membership, volunteerism, and fundraising to provide financial support and advocacy for library services, infrastructures, programming, educational opportunities, literacy, and community connections.
